From our Executive Director

I wish to extend our gratitude to Angela for her hard work and commitment that she has provided to our organization this past year in helping with curbside services during the pandemic, helping us move and organize our inventory and processes and the personal care and service she has provided to our clients and volunteers. We appreciate it and wish her only the best in caring for the changing needs of her family. 

With the news of Angela's need to step down, we need YOU, now, more than ever! With our big fundraiser coming up, changing our store over from summer to winter, looking to hire two new coordinators, and get enough volunteers to run the Sharing Center to keep it open to continue to serve about 400 clients each month... September is going to be quite the busy month!

Here are some ways that you can HELP:

 1. VOLUNTEER - especially during open hours. Our organization is mostly volunteer-run! We have the best volunteers! As we continue to rapidly grow, we need more volunteers to help keep up with serving more families each month. See below for more information about Volunteer needs.

2. Register or donate for the DiaperDash Event!

3. Promote the DiaperDash Event! Hang posters at your church, school, office, favorite business. Share on social media and tell all your friends. 

4. Host a Diaper Drive! Help us restock our shelves with size 4, 5, 6 diapers -Bring them to the DiaperDash! - Prizes for the individual/group to bring in the most. 

5. Spread the word about our job openings

6. Order something off of our Amazon wish list to help make sure we have supplies readily available.

7. Follow us on Facebook to stay up-to-date on all the latest news and happenings.

7. Pray! This organization has been incredibly blessed by the vast amount of prayers from all of you! Please continue to pray that the families coming to us will receive the care and essential items needed to care for their babies that enough volunteers will step up to help, and that the right people will be chosen for our open job positions.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

--Seasonal Inventory Switch - Wednesday, September 1st 1-4pm we will switch the Sharing Center inventory over from summer to fall/winter.

--We are open on Tuesday nights AND Saturday mornings for in-person shopping. Each "Open Hours" requires a minimum of 3 people to help run the Center

1. Client Intake - Greet and Check clients in
2. Runner/Filler for Diaper/wipes/formula requests
3.  Donation Intake - Greet donors, help bring in donations, give receipt 

• additional volunteers needed each "open hours" to help sort donations and bundle diapers
• Volunteers needed twice a week before each "Open Hours" to help re-stock and clean the shopping area
• Volunteers to help clean the center each week (vacuuming, window washing, wiping down high touch areas, taking out garbage/recycle, and cleaning the bathrooms... can arrange flexible times)

DIAPERDASH Event

What:    5K Run/2 mile Walk and 50 yard Kid's Dash to kick off Diaper Need Awareness Week

When:     Saturday, September 25, 2021  ---- 8-11am

Where:    McKee Farms Park in Fitchburg

Why:      To raise funds and gather materials to support babies and families in Dane County experiencing diaper need. 

PRIZES:   Prizes will be awarded for the most online donations collected and the most diapers brought to the park! See event page for more details!

Open Positions 

We are looking to fill two open positions down at the Center. 

Client Services Coordinator

Volunteer & Donation Center Coordinator

Both candidates should have strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, support the mission and values of Pregnancy Helpline. A minimum of 2-3 years experience in leadership, management, nonprofit, client services or customer service is required.  

Hours: 20-25 hours per week - Must be able to work during most of our "Open Hours", the rest is flex time 

Compensation: $15/hour

Bishop Hying toured our spaced and gave a blessing that all who come to us will receive the care and resources they need. 

A $7,000 donation was made on behalf of the Catholic Diocese of Madison. 

$2,451.68 Grant made possible through the generosity of the Victor and Carol Dorn Family Fund

Amazon Smile is now available on the app! Make sure to check your settings every six months to make sure it is turned on and that Pregnancy Helpline of Madison is selected! 

Wishlist

TOP 5 ITEMS NEEDED THIS MONTH

1. INDUSTRIAL Sized FOOD FILM WRAP - we use these large rolls to wrap our diaper bundles with, with DiaperDash around the corner we are expecting to wrap and distribute a lot of diapers shortly after and want to be ready. This item can be found on our Amazon Wishlist.

2. BABY LOTION and BABY WASH - We have been getting more inquiries from clients and agencies looking to refer clients for these items. We would also like to include these items in our Baby Care Packages. Accepting all brands and sizes.

3. MENSTRUAL CARE PRODUCTS - When we get donations of these items, they tend to go very quickly, making it very evident that these items are very much needed and appreciated.  

4. BABY WIPES - We are going through about 400 packages of wipes each month! 

5.Diapers size 4-6 - While we accept all sizes, size 4-6 are the sizes we go through the most. The shelves for size 4 and 5 are getting low and 6 is empty!
